We’re passionate about Canterbury’s rich history and are always learning more from residents of Canterbury, historians, and community events. The Via Francigena, an ancient pilgrimage route stretching from Canterbury to Rome, has been travelled for over a thousand years, inspiring art, literature, and cultural exchanges along the way. With part of this historic route passing through South Canterbury, we’re committed to ensuring it remains a well-maintained and welcoming walking and cycling route for generations of pilgrims and visitors to come.
With 2025 marking the Vatican-declared Jubilee Year under the theme "Pilgrims of Hope," we’re exploring ways to celebrate this significant event. While plans are still taking shape, we’d love to hear your ideas and get the community involved. Whether it’s guided walks, poetry competitions, art workshops, or charity fundraisers - there are so many possibilities.
