A Design Code sets out clear principles for how a new neighbourhood should look, feel and function. It can guide everything from the character of streets, buildings and public spaces to landscaping, walking and cycling routes, parking and the way people move around the area.
As plans for South Canterbury progress, we want to understand what matters most to the people who know Canterbury best.
Our new Design Code Survey asks for your views on a range of topics that will inform the developing code. We want to hear what you think makes a neighbourhood attractive and welcoming, what would help people walk, cycle and use public transport, and what should be considered when designing streets, green spaces and other parts of the neighbourhood.
Whether you have been involved in previous consultations or are sharing your views with us for the first time, we would love to hear from you. The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete and is open until 23rd October 2026.
